The third release in the ‘Echoes’ series, the Tmavé (meaning Dark in Czech) is a Czech Dark lager with 100% Czech ingredients. This style is a bit richer in body and malt profile than the German Schwarzbier and also more bitter. This beer underwent a double-decoction in the brewhouse and has been lagered for 9 weeks.
Special Ingredients: Brewed with floor-malted Czech grown barley and Czech Saaz hops. Naturally carbonated by trapping the CO2 produced during fermentation in the tank.
Tasting Notes: The Echoes Dark has notes of chocolate, toast and dark fruit on the nose. The first impressions on the palate are those of cocoa nibs with a very dark caramel. As the taste develops, a very slight roasty note becomes evident with some plum-like fruity impressions with a balancing bitterness. The beer is medium-bodied and has enough sweetness to balance the dark, roasty flavours provided by the malt.
Food Pairings: Mildly-flavoured Stews and brothy soups would be the best paired with this beer. Although this beer is dark, it does not have enough alcohol or sweetness to be paired with any desserts.
